L’Association Marocaine de Développement du Géoparc Jbel Bani (AMDGJB) qui gère le Territoire Soutenable du Géoparc Jbel Bani (TSGJB) fait l’annonce de son CONTRAT CLIMATIQUE TERRITORIAL 2040
« à l’occasion de la journée mondiale de l’environnement du 5 juin 2026 »

Face à l’accélération des changements climatiques, à la raréfaction des ressources en eau, à l’érosion de la biodiversité, à l’avancée de la désertification et aux défis socio-économiques des territoires arides, les acteurs du Territoire Soutenable du Géoparc Jbel Bani (TSGJB) s’engagent dans une démarche collective de régénération climatique territoriale 2040, pour faire suite à ses Chartes de Géo Eco Tourisme et d’Ethique !

Ce présent Contrat Climatique Territorial du Géoparc Jbel Bani 2040 constitue un pacte volontaire avec les collectivités territoriales Provinciales et locales, les Institutions publiques, les Universités, les Centres de recherche, les Associations, les Coopératives, les Entreprises, les Opérateurs touristiques, les Acteurs du secteur minier, les Etablissements scolaires et les Citoyens.

CE CONTRAT S’INSCRIT DANS LA MISE EN ŒUVRE TERRITORIALE :

• De l’Agenda 2030 des Nations Unies ;
• De l’Accord de Paris sur le climat ;
• Des stratégies nationales marocaines de développement durable ;
• Des principes des Géoparcs Mondiaux UNESCO ;
• De la vision du Territoire Soutenable du Géoparc Jbel Bani portée par l’AMDGJB !

Notre ambition est de faire du Géoparc Jbel Bani un modèle Marocain et Africain de résilience climatique, de préservation des patrimoines naturels et culturels et de développement territorial durable à l’horizon 2040.

ARTICLE 1 : VISION 2040

À l’horizon 2040, le Territoire Soutenable du Géoparc Jbel Bani ambitionne de devenir :

• Un territoire neutre en dégradation des terres,
• Un modèle de gestion durable de l’eau en milieu aride et semi-aride,
• Un territoire de conservation de la biodiversité et de la géodiversité,
• Un exemple d’équilibre entre activités économiques, oasis et ressources minières,
• Une destination internationale de géotourisme durable,
• Un laboratoire vivant d’innovation territoriale,
• Un territoire exemplaire dans la mise en œuvre locale des Objectifs de Développement Durable cela en parfait accord avec les Nouvelles Formes de Développements !

ARTICLE 2 : LES 8 ENGAGEMENTS STRATÉGIQUES

*-ENGAGEMENT 1 : PRÉSERVER L’EAU COMME PATRIMOINE COMMUN

Les signataires s’engagent à :

• Restaurer les systèmes hydrauliques traditionnels,
• Protéger les nappes phréatiques,
• Promouvoir les techniques d’économie d’eau,
• Valoriser les savoir-faire ancestraux liés à l’eau !

OBJECTIF 2040

Réduire de 50 % la consommation d’eau dans les activités partenaires.

*-ENGAGEMENT 2 : PRÉSERVER LA BIODIVERSITÉ ET LES ÉCOSYSTÈMES

Les signataires s’engagent à :

• Protéger la faune et la flore du Géoparc,
• Restaurer les oasis et zones humides,
• Développer des corridors écologiques,
• Lutter contre les espèces invasives,
• Promouvoir les solutions fondées sur la nature !

OBJECTIF 2040

Atteindre un gain net de biodiversité sur l’ensemble du territoire du Géoparc Jbel Bani.

*-ENGAGEMENT 3 : ASSURER L’ÉQUILIBRE ENTRE OASIS, GÉODIVERSITÉ ET ACTIVITÉS MINIÈRES

Les signataires reconnaissent que les ressources minières constituent un levier de développement économique mais que leurs exploitations doivent être compatibles avec la préservation des oasis, des ressources hydriques, des géo sites et de la biodiversité territoriale.

ILS S’ENGAGENT À :

• Promouvoir une exploitation responsable des ressources minières,
• Protéger les oasis et les zones sensibles,
• Mettre en œuvre le principe « Éviter – Réduire – Compenser »,
• Développer la réhabilitation écologique des sites exploités,
• Encourager les mécanismes de responsabilité sociétale des entreprises minières !

Faire du Géoparc Jbel Bani un modèle national de coexistence harmonieuse entre patrimoine naturel, patrimoine géologique et développement économique.

TERRITORIAL CLIMATE CONTRACT 2040 FOR THE SUSTAINABLE TERRITORY OF THE JBEL BANI GEOPARK : For a Resilient, Regenerative, Inclusive and Sustainable Territory!

The Moroccan Association for the Development of the Jbel Bani Geopark (AMDGJB), which manages the Sustainable Territory of the Jbel Bani Geopark (TSGJB), hereby announces its TERRITORIAL CLIMATE CONTRACT 2040, “On the occasion of World Environment Day, 5 June 2026”

In response to the accelerating impacts of climate change, the increasing scarcity of water resources, the loss of biodiversity, the advance of desertification, and the socio-economic challenges facing arid territories, the stakeholders of the Sustainable Territory of the Jbel Bani Geopark (TSGJB) commit themselves to a collective process of territorial climate regeneration towards 2040, building upon its Geo-Eco-Tourism Charter and Ethics Charter.

This Territorial Climate Contract 2040 for the Jbel Bani Geopark establishes a voluntary pact involving provincial and local authorities, public institutions, universities, research centers, associations, cooperatives, businesses, tourism operators, mining sector stakeholders, educational institutions and citizens.

THIS CONTRACT IS PART OF THE TERRITORIAL IMPLEMENTATION OF:

• The United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development;

• The Paris Climate Agreement;

• Morocco’s National Sustainable Development Strategies;

• The Principles of UNESCO Global Geoparks;

• The Vision of the Sustainable Territory of the Jbel Bani Geopark promoted by AMDGJB.

Our ambition is to make the Jbel Bani Geopark a Moroccan and African model of climate resilience, natural and cultural heritage conservation, and sustainable territorial development by 2040.

ARTICLE 1: VISION 2040

By 2040, the Sustainable Territory of the Jbel Bani Geopark aims to become:

• A land degradation-neutral territory;

• A model for sustainable water management in arid and semi-arid environments;

• A territory dedicated to biodiversity and geodiversity conservation;

• An example of balance between economic activities, oasis ecosystems and mineral resources;
• An international destination for sustainable geotourism;

• A living laboratory for territorial innovation;

• A leading territory in the local implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, fully aligned with New Development Models.

ARTICLE 2: THE 8 STRATEGIC COMMITMENTS

COMMITMENT 1: PRESERVING WATER AS A COMMON HERITAGE

The signatories commit to:

• Restoring traditional water management systems;

• Protecting groundwater resources;

• Promoting water-saving techniques;

• Enhancing traditional knowledge related to water management.

2040 TARGET

Reduce water consumption by 50% across partner activities.

COMMITMENT 2: PRESERVING BIODIVERSITY AND ECOSYSTEMS

The signatories commit to:

• Protecting the Geopark’s fauna and flora;

• Restoring oasis ecosystems and wetlands;

• Developing ecological corridors;

• Combating invasive species;

• Promoting nature-based solutions.

2040 TARGET

Achieve a net biodiversity gain across the entire territory of the Jbel Bani Geopark.

COMMITMENT 3: ENSURING BALANCE BETWEEN OASES, GEODIVERSITY AND MINING ACTIVITIES

The signatories recognize that mineral resources represent an important driver of economic development, but that their exploitation must remain compatible with the preservation of oasis ecosystems, water resources, geosites and territorial biodiversity.

THEY COMMIT TO:

• Promoting responsible mining practices;

• Protecting oasis ecosystems and environmentally sensitive areas;

• Implementing the “Avoid – Reduce – Compensate” principle;

• Developing ecological rehabilitation of exploited sites;

• Encouraging corporate social responsibility mechanisms within mining companies.

Make the Jbel Bani Geopark a national model for harmonious coexistence between natural heritage, geological heritage and economic development.

COMMITMENT 4: DEVELOPING A RESILIENT AND CIRCULAR LOCAL ECONOMY
